Ah, that's right. You always were fond of drawing.

[He picks up his Cerevice from where he'd abandoned it on the coffee table, then switches it off. Taka has free rein of the apartment, and lands near Athena as she sits down, as if watching what she's doing.]

Ignore Taka... He's merely curious. [...Just in case she thinks any hawk attacks are incoming.]

[ She is a bit startled by Taka, and ends up holding her belongings closer to her. A part of her wants to pet him, though. Mixed feelings over here!! ]

H- Hi, Taka...!

[Taka tilts his head and blinks at her, while Blackquill grins and takes a seat beside Athena.]

A word of advice: he likes to be scratched around his neck, or rubbed on his chest. Just be careful he doesn't nip you, if you like keeping all your fingers.

[ ... can't tell if she should pet him nor or what. She just looks at Simon with the most unsure face ever, as if sarcastically thanking him for the advice. Then she looks back at Taka and nervously reaches for his breast to scratch at it. ]

Can you, I don't know, tell him not to do that?

How can I tell a bird of prey not to do what comes naturally to him? He's no domesticated dog or cat, and will defend himself if he sees a need to.

[Despite his words, the hawk closes his eyes in pleasure, and doesn't seem interested in biting Athena at all. Maybe he had exaggerated a little...]

[ Sorry, were you saying something, Simon? Relief pours all over Athena after she notices Taka relaxing before her. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all! Her attention is completely on the bird now, and she hums a tune as she continues to make nice with Taka. ]

[Simon can deal with being ignored if it's in favour of Taka. The hawk seems to be enjoying the attention, even ducking his head so she can rub at just the right spots. And for a scary-looking bird, his feathers are surprisingly soft.]

Simon, I think Taka wants to try being with the defense next time.

Now there's a bright idea... If the defence says something inane, he can attack you on the spot, rather than go through the effort of flying across the courtroom.

Because hawks aren't built for such things, least of all the rubbish we consume in modern diets. He's much better off sticking with his own prey.

She's a bit concentrated on her drawing that she doesn't look at Simon when she talks to him, but she's definitely there and present in the conversation. ]
